Norway Chess 8: Carlsen escapes as Anand blunders
Magnus Carlsen leads Shakhriyar Mamedyarov by half a point going into the final day of Norway Chess 2022 after incredible drama in the penultimate round. In a roughly equal position Vishy Anand blundered into mate-in-2 then resigned before Mamedyarov had a chance to spot the blunder. Magnus was dead lost at times in both the classical and Armageddon games against Maxime Vachier-Lagrave, but found a way not only to survive but to win the mini-match.
